Survey Description


In 1971, a total of 1262 soil samples were collected in the Acton area.  Sampling intervals of 300 m and 500 m respectively were used in the western and eastern parts of this 180 km2 area.  Samples were collected from the C soil horizon at a mean depth of 75 cm.  Most samples were collected beneath the tilled soils of this agricultural region.

The data are published in special study ES-23, Department of Natural Resources, 1976.  Raw data and sample analyses are published in DPV-336.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 31H/9 (Richmond), /10 (Saint-Hyacinthe). The Acton area is located in Bagot, Acton and Upton townships. It is bounded by latitudes 45°37' and 45°42' and longitudes 72°23' and 72°43'.
