Survey Description


In 1968, a soil and sand (esker) sampling survey was conducted in the Matagami esker area, Quebec.  The area covers 180 km2.  A total of 170 samples were collected at every half mile, along the esker.  Soils were collected in horizon B.  Samples were analysed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Mo, Au and Ag.

The data are published in Open File DP-125, Department of Energy and Resources, 1969.  In 1976, a mineralogy study was conducted by the same authors and the data are published in Open File DP-350.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • The Matagami esker region is bounded by latitudes 48° and 50° and longitudes 76° and 79°30'.  It includes the cities of Amos, Barraute and Matagami.
