Survey Description

In August and September 1983, a small-scale geochemistry and Quaternary geology study was carried out at the Williams property of Lac Minerals, Hemlo, Ontario.

Samples were collected along two lines, one located at the eastern boundary of the property where the till was shallow (less than 1.5 m) and the other further west in the vicinity of the main deposit where the overburden was deeper.

Relatively large samples of humus were collected at each sampling location together with small mineral soil and till samples.  Samples of Quaternary materials and bedrock were collected along the traverse lines using percussion drilling and in the 2 test pits nearby by hand.

The data and a detailed description of the study are published on Ontario Geological Survey Map M80754.
