Survey Description


B-horizon samples were collected in the Annidale-Shannon area, southern New Brunswick by various mining companies from the late 1960’s to the early 1990’s.  Elements analysed vary depending on the company and the year.  A compilation of the analytical results obtained by the companies are published in New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy Map Plates 93-331A to E.

Quantities Analysed:

<0.177 mm fraction analyzed by AAS for base metals (A. Seaman, pers comm., 2005).

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of 21G/9 (Hampstead), the Annidale-Shannon area in southern New Brunswick.  It covers mining company grids 16, 17A, 17B (all Texas Gulf Ltd.) and 18 (Maritime Resource Research).  It is bounded to the north by Wickham Bald Hill Road and crosses Jones Brook.  It is located near the town of London Settlement.

  • Covers part of NTS 21H/12 (Sussex), the Annidale-Shannon area in southern New Brunswick.  It covers PGE Resources Ltd. grids 15A and 15B.  It is located north of the town of Beulah and straddles Second Run Brook.

  • Covers parts of NTS 21H/13 (Codys) and south into 21H/12 (Sussex), in the Annidale-Shannon area, southern New Brunswick.  It is located south of South Branch Mill Brook and encloses East Scotch Settlement, Scotch Mountain and the unincorporated area of Northrups Corner.

  • Covers part of NTS 21H/12 (Sussex), in the Annidale-Shannon area, southern New Brunswick.  It covers BP Resources Canada Ltd. grids 6, 7 and 14.  It is located in Springfield Parish, Kings County, just northeast of West Scotch Settlement and straddles Taylors Brook.

  • Covers part of NTS 21H/12 (Sussex), in the Annidale-Shannon area, southern New Brunswick.  It covers PGE Resources Ltd. grid 8.  It is located west of Joliffs Brook and extends from the town of Joliffs Brook southwest to the community of Butt Moose Hill.

  • Covers part of NTS 21H/12 (Sussex), in the Annidale-Shannon area, southern New Brunswick.  It is located in Wickham Parish, Queens County, southeast of Henderson Brook and approximately 4 km northwest of the rural community of Stewarton.

  • Covers part of NTS 21H/12 (Sussex) in the Annidale-Shannon area, southern New Brunswick.  It is located east and southeast of the town of Henderson Settlement.  The boundary between Queens County and Kings County runs SW-NE through it.

  • Covers parts of 21H/12 (Sussex) and west just into 21G/9 (Hampstead), the Annidale-Shannon area in southern New Brunswick.  It is located south of the unincorporated area of Shannon and Highway 705.

  • Covers parts of NTS 21G/9 (Hampstead) and 21H/12 (Sussex), the Annidale-Shannon area in southern New Brunswick.  It is located north of Belleisle Bay and east of the Saint John River near the towns of Kars and Tennants Cove.
