Survey Description


Soil and till samples were collected in the Mascarene Peninsula and West Isles area of southwest New Brunswick.  Samples were collected at 142 sites on the Mascarene Peninsula and northern Deer Island, and 33 sites were sampled on southern Deer Island.  No sampling year was given.  The data are published in New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy Map Plates 87-12A and 87-12B.

Data Description:

Paper maps.

Quantities Analysed:

Au from panned concentrates in C-horizon and from humus.  Ag, Cu, Pb, Zn, Co, Sb and W from <0.177 mm fraction of B-horizon.  No analytical methods were given.

Maps with element concentrations listed at each site.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 21B/14 and 15 (both Campobello Island), and 21G/2 (St. George), the Mascarene Peninsula and West Isles area., southwest New Brunswick.  It is bounded to the southwest by the Maine-New Brunswick border and to the southeast by the Bay of Fundy.
