Survey Description


In 1996, till geochemistry case studies were carried out at five porphyry copper prospects in the Babine porphyry belt, central British Columbia.  A total of 321 till samples were collected at these sites: Lennac, Hearne Hill, Trail Peak, Nak and Dorothy.

A summary of the work can be found in British Columbia Geological Fieldwork 1996, Paper 1997-1.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 93L/9 (Topley) and 93L/16 (Fulton Lake), two copper prospects in the Lennac Lake area of the Babine porphyry copper belt, central British Columbia.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 7 km south of Lennac Lake.

  • Covers part of NTS 93M/1 (Old Fort Mountain), the Hearne Hill copper prospect in the Babine porphyry copper belt, central British Columbia.  It is located approximately 3 km east of Morrison Lake.

  • Covers part of NTS 93M/8 (Nakinilerak Lake), the Trail Peak copper prospect in the Babine porphyry copper belt, central British Columbia.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 7 km northeast of Friday Lake.

  • Covers part of NTS 93M/8 (Nakinilerak Lake), the Nak copper prospect in the Babine porphyry copper belt, central British Columbia.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 3 km east of Nakinilerak Lake.

  • Covers parts of NTS 93M/1 (Old Fort Mountain) and 93M/8 (Nakinilerak Lake), the “Dorothy” copper prospect in the Babine porphyry copper belt, central British Columbia.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 7 km southeast of Nakinilerak Lake.
