Survey Description

Approximately 450 regional till samples were collected in 1997 and 1998 in the Marilla, Tetachuck Lake and eastern half of the Pendleton Bay map sheets on the Nechako Plateau in central British Columbia.  The samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 3.5 km2.  Higher density sampling was conducted in areas of perceived higher mineral potential and around known copper and gold prospects including the Uduk Lake (93F/12) and Wolf (93K/12) prospects.  These data were not included in the regional data set.

A summary of the work can be found in BC Geological Fieldwork 1998, Paper 1999-1 and the data for 93F/5, 12 are published in British Columbia Geological Survey Open File 2002-11.

Data Description:

Paper report with data lists and data on diskette.  Report can be downloaded.

Quantities Analysed:

<0.063 mm fraction by INAA for 35 elements; by ICP-ES after aqua regia digestion for 30 elements; by flameless AAS for Hg.

Geochem Maps Available:

Proportional dot maps showing dispersal for most elements.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 93F/5 (Tetachuck Lake) and 93F/12 (Marilla) on the Nechako Plateau in central British Columbia.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 85 km south of the town of Burns Lake and lies to the east of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park.  Ootsa Lake cross cuts the northern part of the area, and Tetachuck Lake cross-cuts the southern part.

  • Covers the eastern part of NTS 93K/12 (Pendleton Bay) in the north central Nechako Plateau area, British Columbia.  Babine Lake runs through the southwest part of the study area which covers part of Babine Provincial Forest and Stuart Lake Provincial Forest.
