Survey Description


During a regional bedrock mapping project carried out in 2013, 2015 and 2016, 112 rock samples were collected from new mineral indications and previously known (MODS) occurrences in the Archean Ashuanipi Complex of western Labrador.

The data are published in Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Natural Resources Open File 023J/0396.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of NTS 23J (Schefferville) in western Labrador.  The study area is located west of Menihek Lakes and parts of the study area are bounded by the Labrador-Quebec border.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 65 km south-southwest from Schefferville, QC.

  • Covers a very small part of NTS 23J/14 (Elross Lake) in western Labrador.  It is bounded to the west by the Labrador-Quebec border.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 31 km west-northwest of Schefferville, QC.
