Survey Description
Between 2012 and 2015, 79 iron formation samples were collected in the Menihek and Schefferville areas in the Labrador Trough, western Newfoundland. The samples were taken from outcrops, active mine faces and exploration trenches, stock-piled ore material, drill core and drill-cuttings.
The data are published in Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Natural Resources Open File LAB/1667.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers part of NTS 23O/3 (Lac de la Frontière) in the Schefferville area, western Labrador and just into Quebec. The centre of the study area is located approximately 42 km northwest of the city of Schefferville, QC.

Covers parts of NTS 23J/14 (Elross Lake) and 23J/15 (Lac Knob) in the Schefferville area, western Labrador and just into Quebec. Ruth Lake is located in the southern part of the study area. The centre of the study area is located approximately 12 km west-northwest of the city of Schefferville, QC.

Covers a very small part of NTS 23J/10 (Stakit Lake; 1 sample) in western Labrador. The centre of the study area is located approximately 3 km southwest from the western shore of Stakit Lake.

Covers a very small part of NTS 23J/10 (Stakit Lake; 1 sample) near the Redmond1 showing in western Labrador. The centre of the study area is located approximately 3 km east of Gemini Lake.
