The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 2D/06 (Great Gull Lake) and parts of 2D/03 (Mount Sylvester), 2D/04 (Twillick Brook), 2D/05 (Burnt Hill), 2D/11 (Eastern Pond) and 2D/12 (Miguels Lake) in south central Newfoundland.  It is bounded to the southeast by Bay du Nord Wilderness Reserve.  Highway 360 (Bay d’Espoir Highway) runs north-south across the western part of the study area.  Great Gull Lake and Berry Hill Pond are found in the central part of the area.

  • Covers small parts of NTS 1M/13 (St. Alban’s) and 2D/04 (Twillick Brook) in south central Newfoundland.  It is bounded to the northwest by Jeddore Lake and is located just north of the town of St. Alban’s.

  • Covers part of NTS 2D/11 (Eastern Pond) and a very small part of 2D/12 (Miguels Lake; 1 sample) in south central Newfoundland.  Its centre is located approximately 61 km southwest of the city of Gander and 33 km southeast of Grand Falls-Windsor.  Highway 360 (Bay d’Espoir Highway) runs north-south through the very western part of the area.
