Survey Description
In 2015, till samples were collected in The Topsails-Rainy Lake area, north-central Newfoundland:

Samples (~1 kg) were collected from the C- or BC- soil horizon from hand-dug pits, road cuts, ditches and mudboils. Along roads, the sampe density was one sample every one linear kilometre and one sample every 4 km 2 for helicopter-supported sampling.
The data are published in Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Natural Resources Open File NFLD/3301.
Samples from this survey were reanalyzed for fluoride and the data are published in a compilation (Open File NFLD/3344) with samples collected from across the province between 1985 and 2017.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers NTS 12H/02 (The Topsails), 12A/14 (Rainy Lake), part of 12H/03 (Deer Lake) and a small part of 12A/13 (Corner Brook) in north central Newfoundland. It is bounded to the northwest by Grand Lake and to the south by 48.75°N latitude. It is located between Red Indian Lake and the Trans-Canada Highway.
