Survey Description
In 2005, till samples were collected in the area of Grand Lake, Gover Island and Little GrandLake, western Newfoundland. Most samples were from the C- horizon but B- and BC- samples were taken where B-horizon was extensive or till was too thick for a C- horizon to be present.
In total, 206 samples weighing 1 kg were collected from hand-dug pits wtih an average depth of 50 cm.
The data are published in Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Natural Resources Open File 012A/1209.
Samples from this survey were reanalyzed for fluoride and the data are published in a compilation (Open File NFLD/3344) with samples collected from across the province between 1985 and 2017.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers parts of NTS 12A/12 (Little Grand Lake) and 12A/13 (Corner Brook) in the Grand Lake area, western Newfoundland. The centre of the study area is located approximately 66 km east-northeast from the city of Stephenville and 35 km southeast from Corner Brook. It is bounded to the northwest by Grand Lake.
