Survey Description


In 2019, till samples were collected in the Hopedale map area, central Labrador.  Two samples were collected at each of 15 sites from hand-dug pits: a large (10–20 kg) till sample for indicator mineral analysis and a smaller (3–5 kg) sample for geochemistry.

The indicator mineral results including KIM, MMSIM, platinum group minerals and gold grains are published in Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Industry, Energy and Technology Open File 013N/0159.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers a very small part of NTS 13N/07 (untitled; 1 sample) in central Labrador.  It is located approximately 28 km southwest from the town of Hopedale.

  • Covers part of the southern part of NTS 13N (Hopedale) in central Labrador.  It is bounded to the south by part of Shapio Lake and Adlatok River runs east-west through the study area.  The centre of study area is located approximately 645 km southwest from the town of Hopedale.
