Survey Description


In 2019, till samples were collected at a reconnaisance scale in the Russell Lake-McCallum Lake area, northwestern Manitoba.  Eighteen samples weighing ~2 kg each were collected from the C-horizon (n=16) or from the B/C-horizon (n=2).  At those sites, ~18 L samples of till were also collected for processing of kimberlite indicator minerals.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers a very small part of NTS 64C/04 (McCallum Lake; 2 samples) in the Russell Lake-McCallum Lake area, northwestern Manitoba.  It is centred around the southern part of McCallum Lake and is located approximately 15 km southwest from Russell Lake.

  • Covers part of NTS 64C/04 (McCallum Lake) and small parts of 64C/05 (Kamuchawie Lake) and 64C/6 (Kadeniuk Lake) in the Russell Lake-McCallum Lake area, northwestern Manitoba.  It is centred around Russell Lake and is located approximately 11 km northeast from northern part of McCallum Lake.  Most of the study area is bounded to the east by 101.5°W longitude.
