Survey Description
A total of 248 till samples weighing 2-3 kg each were collected from the C-horizon, road cuts or natural sections in the Gillam area, northeast Manitoba:
Year | Number of Surface Till Samples | Number of Subsurface Till Samples |
2013 | 45 | 18 |
2014 | 103 | 38 |
2015 | 44 | 0 |
The data are published in Manitoba Geological Survey Data Repository Item DRI2020005.
The data are also part of two compilations in Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development open files OF2020-2 and OF2020-3 (superseded by GeoFile 2-2022).
Data for 4 additional samples collected in 2 aggregate pits the Gillam area are published in DRI2021010 along with data from the western Fox River greenstone belt.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:
-
Covers very small parts of NTS 64A/01 (Split Lake; 1 sample) and 64A/08 (Crying Lake; 1 sample) in northeast Manitoba. It is located just north of Split Lake and its western edge is approximately 10 km from where the Burntwood and Nelson rivers enter Split Lake.
-
Covers most of NTS 54D (Kettle Rapids) and a small part of 54C (Hayes River) in the Gillam area, northeast Manitoba. The study area is centred around the town of Gillam, Stephens Lake and the Nelson River east of Gillam.
