Survey Description


Surface samples were collected from the B, B/C or C soil horizon in hand-dug pits at depths between 0.2 and 1.3 m.  Samples were collected from mudboils where possible.

The data are published in Manitoba Geological Survey Geoscientific Paper GP2014-1.

The data are also part of two compilations in Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development open files OF2020-2 and OF2020-3.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 64H/4 (McLeod Peninsula), /5 (Wood Lake), /12 (Majury Lake) and /13 (Currie Lake) in north central Manitoba.  It is bounded to the south by 57°N latitude and to the north by 58°N latitude.  It is located just east and northeast of Southern Indian Lake.

  • Covers a small part of NTS 64G/08 (Missi Rapid; 3 samples) in north central Manitoba.  It is located on the northeast shore of Southern Indian Lake close to where the Churchill River flows out of the lake.

  • Covers a small part of NTS 64G/01 (Torrance Lake; 1 sample) in north central Manitoba.  It is located on the northeast shore of Southern Indian Lake, across from Long Point.
