Survey Description


Till samples were collected from the western part of Cumberland County in Nova Scotia beginning in 1981.  The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Paper 85-17

Data Description:

Paper map; map margin has data tables keyed to samples located on the map.

Quantities Analysed:

<0.002 mm fraction by AAS after HNO3-HCl digestion for at least 12 elements; by colourimetry for As and by fluorometry for U.  Heavy mineral concentrate (0.063-0.300 mm fraction) by colourimetry after hot water leach for W and by AAS after HCl leach for Sn.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 21H/7, 8, 9, 10 in the western part of Cumberland County, northern Nova Scotia.  It is bounded to the north and south by the Bay of Fundy.
