Becquerel INAA (34 elements, New Brunswick, Prairies)



The samples were analysed for 34 trace elements by instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA).  The analyses were done by Becquerel Laboratories in Mississauga, Ontario.

Distinguishing characteristics:

  • Ag detection limit: 2 ppm
  • Cd detection limit: 5 ppm
  • Ce detection limit 5 ppm
  • Ir detection limit 50 ppb

This suite is virtually identical to the “Becquerel INAA (34 elements, NGR)” suite, except for trivial differences in the detailed description.

 

General Methodology:

Instrumental Neutron Activation Analyses (INAA) were performed (34 elements-Ag, As, Au, Ba, Br, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cs, Eu, Fe, Hf, Ir, La, Lu, Mo, Na, Ni, Rb, Sb, Sc, Se, Sm, Sn, Ta, Tb, Te, Th, U, W, Yb, Zn, and Zr) at Becquerel Laboratories limited (Mississauga, Ontario). Samples were encapsulated and bundled together with neutron flux monitors in an irradiation container, and irradiated in a two-megawatt pool type reactor. After a one-week decay period, samples were measured on a high-resolution germanium detector.
