RASC Fortran 77 Computer Program for Ranking and Scaling of Biostratigraphic Events; M. Heller, W.S. Gradstein, F.M. Gradstein, F.P. Agterberg, S.N. Lew

The RASC, batch-type, computer program was developed for biozonation and normality testing of (well) sections.

This Open File consists of the fully updated manual (62 p.) which explains the operation and application of the method and the computer program, which was written in Fortran 77, using a CDC Cyber 730 computer. The method includes new normality testing procedures over the 1983 edition (Open File 922). The data base used for this application is the exits of Upper Cretaceous foraminifera in 20 Grand Banks wells. Both the RASC source code and the Cretaceous sample run (input and output) are included on two 5¼ inch, double sided, double density diskettes for reading on an IBM personal computer.

Copies of the text o this Open File are available for viewing at all GSC libraries. A limited number of copies of the text with the diskettes (total cost $25.00) is available only from GSC Ottawa (forward a cheque or money order in Canadian funds only payable to the Receiver General for Canada.
