National Geochemical Reconnaissance Releases NGR 43-1978, 44-1978 and 45-1978; Regional stream sediment and water geochemical reconnaissance data, southern and northern Yukon Territory, NTS 105B, F; and 117A and parts of 117B, C and D
These files relate to data acquired under the Federal-Provincial Uranium Reconnaissance Program by the Geological Survey of Canada.
The contract for field work, sample preparation and sample analysis were let, supervised and monitored by the Resource Geochemistry Subdivision.
The 1978 survey area covers approximately 51 000 km 2 (19 700 mi 2) at an average sample density of one sample per 13 km 2 (5 mi 2). Stream sediments were analyzed for U, Zn, CU, Pb, Ni, Co, Ag, Mn, Fe, Mo, Ba and W. Stream waters were analyzed for F and pH.
Each open file consists of 14 geochemical maps, sample location map and a text of field observations and analytical and statistical data. The total area is divided up into three open files: Southern Yukon - Open Files 563 and 564; Northern Yukon - Open File 565.
These files will be placed on Open File for inspection from 1:00 p.m. EDT, June 15, 1979 (and equivalent local times) at all Geological Survey of Canada libraries; at the office of the Regional Geologist, Dept. of Indian and Northern Affairs, 200 Range Road, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Y1A 3V1; and at the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Ontario Geological Survey, Mines Library, 8th Floor, 77 Grenville Street, Toronto, Ontario.
A limited number of white prints and text will be available for sale at the office of the Resident Geologist, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. White print and text copies may also be obtained at the user's expense from Campbell Reproductions, 880 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 6K7. The field observations and analytical data in the text from which the maps were prepared are also available in a digital form at the user's expense from the Director, Computer Science Centre, Dept. of Energy, Mines and Resources, 588 Booth Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A OE4.
