National geochemical reconnaissance release NGR 36-1977; Regional lake sediment and water geochemical reconnaissance data, Northwestern Saskatchewan, NTS parts of 74C and F
This file relates to data acquired under the Federal-Provincial Uranium Reconnaissance Program, the provincial part being financed through the Canada-Saskatchewan Agreement on a Uranium Reconnaissance Program.
The project was jointly planned by the Geological Survey of Canada and the Saskatchewan Department of Mineral Resources. The contracts for field work, sample preparation and sample analysis were let, supervised and monitored by the Resource Geochemistry Subdivision, Geological Survey of Canada.
The 1978 survey covers approximately 15 000 km 2 (5800 mi 2) at an average sample density of one sample per 13.0 km 2 (5.0 mi 2). Lake sediments were analyzed for U, Zn, Cu, Pb, Ni, Co, Ag, Mn, Fe, Mo, V and As for loss-on-ignition to estimate organic carbon content. Lake waters were analyzed for U, F and pH.
This open file consists of 16 geochemical maps, sample location map and a text of field observations and analytical and statistical data. The total area is one open file.
This file will be placed on Open File for inspection from 1:00 p.m. EDT, May 25, 1979 (and equivalent local times) at all Geological Survey of Canada libraries; at the Saskatchewan Department of Mineral Resources, 1914 Hamilton Street, Regina; the Mining Recorder's Office at La Ronge and Uranium City and the Resident Geologist's office at Creighton, Saskatchewan; and at the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Ontario Geological Survey, Mines Library, 8th Floor, 77 Grenville Street, Toronto, Ontario.
A limited number of white prints and text will be available for sale at Regina and the Mining Recorder's and Resident Geologist's offices, Saskatchewan. White print and text copies may also be obtained at the user's expense from Campbell Reproductions, 880 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 6K7. The field observations and analytical data in the text from which the maps were prepared are also available in a digital form at the user's expense from the Director, Computer Science Centre, Dept. of Energy, Mines and Resources, 588 Booth Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0E8.
