OPEN FILES 518, 519 and 520
National Geochemical Reconnaissance releases NGR 29-1977, 30-1977 and 31-1977
Regional stream sediment and water geochemical reconnaissance data, central Yukon Territory, NTS 106D and parts of 106C, E and F; 116A and part of 116H; and parts of 116B, C, F and G
These files relate to data acquired under the Federal-Provincial Uranium Reconnaissance Program in 1976 and 1977 by the Geological Survye of Canada.
The contract for field work, sample preparation and sample analysis were let, supervised and monitored by the Resource Geochemistry Subdivision, Geological Survey of Canada.
The survey area covers approximately 63,000 km 2 (24,300 mi 2) at an average sample density of one sample per 13 km 2 (5 mi 2). Stream sediments were analyzed for U, Zn, Cu, Pb, Ni, Co, Ag, Mn, Fe, Mo, Ba, W and Hg. Stream waters were analyzed for U, F and pH.
The 1977 survey covered approximately 42,800 km 2 (16,500 mi 2). The file includes most of the 1976 survey data (O.F. 418, 419 and 420), covering 17,600 km 2 (6800 mi 2) together with new analytical data for selected stream sediments from the Keno Hill area, NTS 106D, 1, 2, 3 and 4, covering 2600 km 2 (1000 mi 2).
Each open file consists of 14 geochemical maps, sample location map and a text of field observations and analytical and statistical data.
The material will be available for inspection from 1:00 p.m. EDT, July 26, 1978 (and equivalent local times) at all the libraries of the Geological Survey of Canada, at the office of the Regional Geologist, Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, 200 Range Road, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Y1A 3V1 and at the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Ontario Geological Survey, Mines Library, 8th Floor, 77 Grenville Street, Toronto, Ontario.
A limited number of white prints and text will be available for sale at the office of the Resident Geologist, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. White print and text copies may also be obtained at the user's expense from Campbell Reproductions, 880 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 6K7; Superior Reproductions and Printing, 1111 Melville Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6E 3X5.
