National Geochemical Reconnaissance Releases NGR 25-1977, 26-1977 and 27-1977

Regional stream sediment and water geochemical reconnaissance data, southeastern British Columbia (NTS 82F, K and M)

These files relate to data acquired under the Federal-Provincial Uranium Reconnaissance Program, the provincial part being financed through the Canada-British Columbia Agreement on a Uranium Reconnaissance Program.

The project was jointly planned by the Geological Survey of Canada and the British Columbia Ministry of Mines and Petroleum Resources. The contracts for field work, sample preparation and sample analysis were let, supervised and monitored by the Geochemistry Section, Geological Survey of Canada.

The survey covers approximately 47,000 km 2 (18,200 mi 2) at an average sample density of one sample per 13 km 2 (5 mi 2). Stream sediments were analyzed for U, Zn, Cu, Pb, Ni, Co, Ag, Mn, Fe, Mo and Hg. Streams waters were analyzed for U, F and pH.

The files comprise 12 geochemical maps (11 in the case of Open File 516), a sample location map and a text of field observations and analytical and statistical data. The total area is divided up into three open files.

These fiels will be placed on Open File for inspection from 1:00 p.m. EDT, Thursday, June 8, 1978 (and equivalent local times) at all the libraries of the Geological Survey of Canada, at the British Columbia Ministry of Mines and Petroleum Resources, Room 418, Douglas Building, Victoria, the Gold Commissioner's Office, Vancouver and the offices of the District Geologists in Kamloops and Nelson, B.C. and at the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Public Service Centre, 6th Floor, Whitney Block, Queen's Park, Toronto, Ontario.

A limited number of white prints and text will be available for sale at Victoria, Vancouver and the offices of the District Geologists. White print and text copies may also be obtained at the user's expense by application to Campbell Reproductions, 880 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 6K7. The field observations and analytical data in the text from which the maps were prepared are also available in a digital form at the user's expense from The Director, Computer Science Centre, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, 588 Booth Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0E8.
