OPEN FILE 489

Follow-up geochemical activities in the Nonacho Lake area (75F, K), District of Mackenzie by Y.T. Maurice.

Detailed geochemical investigations were carried out during the summer of 1976 to examine geochemically anomalous areas outlined in a reconnaissance lake sediment survey in the Nonacho Lake area in 1975 (GSC Open Files 324, 325 and 326). The data presented in this report consists of analytical results of high density sampling of lake sediments in 17 study areas totalling 1400 sq. km.

The information is presented in the form of computer listings giving pertinent field data as well as analytical results for 12 elements (U, Zn, Cu, Pb, Ni, Co, Ag, Mn, As, Mo, Fe and Hg) and loss-on-ignition. These are accompanied by 1:50,000 sample location maps and one element distribution map for each of the study areas (there are 14 uranium, 2 copper and 1 zinc maps). Two index maps at a scale of 1:250,000 showing the location of the study areas as well as a brief description of field and analytical techniques with relevant explanatory remarks regarding presentation and some statistical data are also included.

The release will be placed on Open File for inspection on 26 September 1977 at the libraries of the Geological Survey of Canada and copies may be obtained at the user's expense from Campbell Reproductions, 880 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 6K7.
