Geochemical Orientation Survey for Uranium in the Grenville Province of Ontario by W.B. Coker and I.R. Jonasson
This file presents the results of a geochemical orientation survey carried out over Grenville rocks in the Renfrew area (31F/07) during October. 1975. The survey covers 1150 square kilometres with sediment and water samples collected from every body of water, including lakes, ponds, beaver ponds, swamps and marshes, on which the helicopter could land.
Lake sediment samples were analyzed for Zu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Co, Fe, Mn, Mo, Sr, Ba, Ti, Al, Ca, Mg, K, V, Cr, Be, La, Y, U and loss-on-ignition to estimate organic carbon content. Lake water samples were analyzed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Co, Fe, Mn and U. The analytical data and field observations are presented in the form of two computer listings (waters and sediments) accompanied by a sample location map. A description of the field and analytical techniques along with an interpretation of the geochemistry of the lake water and sediment data (including distribution maps of U in waters, and U, in waters, and U, Mo, Cu and trace metal associations in sediments, and summary statistical data) are included.
The file will be available for inspection at the libraries of the Geological Survey of Canada and also at the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Toronto. Copies may be obtained at the user's expense from Campbell Quickprint, 880 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 6K7
