OPEN FILES 416 and 417

National Geochemical Reconnaissance Releases, NGR 12-76 and 13-76, Regional lake sediment geochemical reconnaissance data, Baker Lake, N.W.T. (NTS 55M and 65P)

          This file relates to data acquired through the Federal Uranium Reconnaissance Program by the Geological Survey of Canada. The contracts for field work, sample preparation and sample analysis were let, supervised and monitored by the Geochemistry Section, Geological Survey of Canada.

          The survey covers some 8500 sq. miles at an average sample density of 1 sample per 5 sq. miles. Samples were analysed for 12 elements (Zn, Cu, Pb, Ni, Co, Ag, Mn, Fe, U, Mo, As and Hg) and loss-on-ignition to estimate organic carbon content.

          The file consists of 26 geochemical maps, the area being divided into 2 sheets, 2 sample location maps and lists of the field and analytical data.

          The file will be placed on Open File for inspection from 1:00 pm EDT, Wednesday, October 5, 1977 (and equivalent local times) at the libraries of the Geological Survey of Canada and also at the office of the Regional Geologist, Dept. of Indian and Northern Affairs, Bellanca Building, Yellowknife; and also at the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Public Service Centre, 6th Floor, Whitney Block, Toronto. Limited supplies of white prints will be available for sale through the Regional Geologist's office, Yellowknife.

          Copies of Open Files 416 and 417 may be obtained at user's expense by application to K.G. Campbell Corp., 880 Wellington St., Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 6K7. The field observations and analytical data from which the material was prepared are also available in digital form at user's expense from the Director, Computer Science Centre, Dept. of E.M.R., 588 Booth St., Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0E4.
