OPEN FILES 327 and 328

Regional lake sediment geochemical reconnaissance data, Great Bear Lake, Northwest Territories, by E.H.W. Hornbrook, R.G. Garrett and J.J. Lynch

The survey covers approximately 6000 sq. miles (15,500 km 2) at an average sample density of 1 sample per 5 sq. miles (1 per 13 km 2) for NTS map areas 86K (O.F. 327) and 86L and 96I (O.F. 328). Samples were analyzed for 12 elements (Zn, Cu, Pb, Ni, Co, Ag, Mn, Fe, U, Mo, As, and Hg) and loss-on-ignition to estimate the organic carbon content.

Each of these open files (i.e. 324, 325, 326, 327 and 328) consists of 13 geochemical maps, a sample location map, and a list of the field and analytical data.

These files will be placed on Open File for inspection from 1:00 p.m. E.D.T. May 20, 1976 (and equivalent local times) at the libraries of the Geological Survey of Canada in Ottawa, Vancouver, and Calgary and at the office of the Resident Geolgoist, Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, Bellanca Building, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

A limited number of white prints will be available for sale at the Northwest Territories Resident Geologist's office at the user's expense. The field observations and analytical data from which the material was prepared will be available in a digital form and microfiche at a later date to be announced in the GSC monthly circular.
