Federal-Provincial Uranium Reconnaissance Program, Airborne Gamma-Ray Spectrometry Data, Saskatchewan

Reconnaissance airborne gamma-ray spectrometry data were obtained by the GSC for an area of more than 65 000 km 2 along the southern edge of the Athabasca Formation and over part of the Wollaston fold belt in Saskatchewan.

For each map sheet, results are presented as contour maps, at a scale of 1:250 000, showing total count, potassium, equivalent uranium and equivalent thorium concentrations, and eU/eTh, eU/K and eTh/K ratios, and as profiles, also at 1:250 000, of the seven parameters, for each of the flight lines.

The project was carried out under the supervision of K.A. Richardson, with P.B. Holman responsible for field operations and B.E. Elliott responsible for data compilation.

These files relate to data acquired as part of the Federal-Provincial Uranium Reconnaissance Program (O.F. 309, 310, 311, 312, 313) and as part of the Canada-Saskatchewan Agreement on Mineral Exploration and Development in Northern Saskatchewan (O.F. 314).

The files will be available for inspection only from 1:00 p.m. E.D.T. 29 April, 1976 (and equivalent local times) at the Geological Suvey of Canada libraries in Ottawa, Vancouver and Calgary, and also at the Department of Mineral Resources, 1914 Hamilton Street, Regina and the Mining Recorder’s Offices at Creighton, LaRonge and Uranium City, Saskatchewan.

The maps and profiles comprising these Open Files will be available on microfiche at a later date to be announced in the GSC Monthly Information Circular.
