1990-1999

Surficial Reference Material Certification Project, GSC, 1990-1999.

Project Description

From 1990 to 1999, J. Lynch (Geological Survey of Canada) provided provisional elemental values for geochemical reference samples for lake sediments (LKSD-1, LKSD-2, LKSD-3), stream sediments (STSD-1, STSD-2, STSD-4), soil (TILL-1, TILL-2) and till (TILL-3, TILL-4) collected at specific locations within Canada. The samples were prepared and processed by a partial extraction procedure using aqua regia. The provisional values are analyzed for major, minor and trace elements expressed as oxides (10), total elements (42) and elements (23) by atomic absorption spectroscopy or inductively coupled plasma emission spectroscopy.
