Bathurst Mining Camp, Restigouche-Murray Brook area, New Brunswick hydrogeochemical, stream sediment, and vegetation survey, 1995, 1996 and 1997

Project Description

In 1995, 1996 and 1997 detailed sampling of stream sediments, surface waters and balsam fir needles (1997 only) was carried out in the northern part of the Bathurst Mining Camp as part of the EXTECH-II program.  The purpose of the project was 1) to evaluate the mineral potential of a belt of Ordovician rocks in the Bathurst Mining Camp; 2) to test the effectiveness of detailed multiparameter geochemical techniques in mineral exploration; and 3) to provide valuable baseline geochemical data for evaluating natural and anthropogenic contributions of metals to the surface environment.  The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 3763.
