National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) stream sediment and water surveys were carried out in the Northwest Territories in conjunction with the Northwest Territories Geoscience Office (NTGO).  As part of the NGR program, analytical results and field observations contribute to building a national geochemical database for resource assessment, mineral exploration, geological mapping and environmental studies.  Sample collection, preparation procedures and analytical methods are strictly specified and carefully monitored to ensure consistent and reliable results regardless of the area, year of collection or the analytical laboratory undertaking the analyses.

In July 2003, a survey was carried out in the Richardson Mountains.  The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 4670.

In August 2003 and July 2005, surveys were carried out in the lower Willowlake River and Horn Plateau areas respectively, Northwest Territories.  The 2003 data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 4674 and both the 2003 and 2005 data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 5478.

In July 2004, a survey was carried out in the Macmillan Pass – Sekwi Mountain area of the Mackenzie Mountains.  The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 4949.

In August 2004, a survey was carried out in the Travaillant Lake area, north of the Mackenzie Mountains and south of the Mackenzie Delta.  The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 4951.
