Northeastern Ontario till sampling survey, 1994
Project Description
A multi-media orientation survey was initiated at 4 mineralized sites in northeastern Ontario to determine the geochemical signature at surface of gold and base metal mineralization buried beneath clay and glaciofluvial cover. Three groups of surficial media were sampled: water in drainage pathways, the organic-rich substrate to water in drainage pathways, and soils developed on the glacial substrate. No sampling year was given. The project was designed to determine: the sample media which reflect mineralization; criteria for sample site selection; preferred analytical methods; elements that reflect mineralization; the spatial relationship between anomalies and mineralization; the optimum sample density. A description of the work can be found in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report 5927.
