Northeastern Ontario till sampling survey carried out in 1996
Project Description
Regional and property-scale till samples were collected along the western extension of Larder Lake-Cadillac Break in 1996 in the Matachewan area, northeastern Ontario. The objective of the study was to further refine the aerial extent of elevated regional background for gold and associated elements determined in a previous till sampling survey in the area and to suggest concentrations of metals in till that may point to economically significant bedrock deposits. The detailed property-scale sampling at the Ashley Mine and the Matachewan Consolidated Mine documented the magnitude, shape and character of dispersal trains originating from known gold sources. This information will be applied to the interpretation of the regional till sampling data set. The data are published in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report 5957.
