Recent construction in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) has created an opportunity to sample relatively undisturbed soil profiles in the area.  Some of the objectives of the geochemical sampling program are:

1) to establish a historical geochemical baseline reference for the HRM area;

2) to complement pre-existing regional datasets available at the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources;

3) to demonstrate the existence of natural geochemical variability that characterizes different surficial units;
