Organisation Description

SOQUEM (Société québécoise d’exploration minière) was created in 1965 by Jean Lesage’s Provincial government as a Crown corporation to enable Quebec to develop its mineral resources.  In 1998, SOQUEM became a wholly owned subsidiary of SGF (Société Générale de Financement du Québec), another Quebec Crown corporation created in 1962 by Lesage’s government.  SGF merged its operations with Investissement Quebec in 2010.
