Organisation Description

The Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development was created in 1966 and the department has been renamed several times.  It was called Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (2011–15) and Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (2015–17).  In 2017, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) was dissolved and replaced by 2 new departments: Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC).
