The regional lake sediment and water survey of the north shore of Lake Superior area, Ontario (NTS 41K and 41N) was conducted during the summer of 1978.

This report presents analytical and statistical data for gold and 25 other elements obtained by re-analyzing lake sediments from 685 sites, collected at an average density of one sample per 14.0 km². Original analytical data selected from Open File 554 (published 1979) for 12 variables in sediments, and uranium, fluoride, and pH values in lake waters are also included in this report.

The original reconnaissance survey was undertaken by the Geological Survey of Canada in conjunction with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources under the terms of the Canada - Ontario Agreement on a Uranium Reconnaissance Program. The reanalysis program was undertaken under the Canada - Ontario Mineral Development Agreement (1985-1990).

E.H.W. Hornbrook directed the original survey (1978) and the reanalysis program (1990).
