The regional stream survey for southern Yukon (NTS 105F) was conducted during the summer of 1978.

Open File 1290 presents analytical and statistical data for 8 elements plus loss-on-ignition obtained by re-analyzing stream sediments from 876 sites, collected at an average density of one sample per 13.6 km². Original analytical data selected from Open File 564.2 (published 1980) for 12 elements and uranium, fluoride, and pH values in concomitant waters are also included in this report.

The original reconnaissance surveys were undertaken by the Geological Survey of Canada under the Federal Uranium Reconnaissance Program. The 1985 reanalysis program was undertaken under the Canada - Yukon Mineral Development Agreement (1985 - 1989).

E.H.W. Hornbrook directed the Geological Survey of Canada activities (1978, 1979, 1985).

W.D. Goodfellow was responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising field operations (1978).

P.W.B. Friske coordinated the operational activities of contract and Geological Survey of Canada staff (1985).

Other information:

Open File 564.2, released in 1980, included analytical values for uranium in stream waters not in the original release of 564.1 (1979).

Gold usually determined on 10-gram sample, allowing a detection limit of 1 ppb; sample weights less than 10 grams resulted in a detection limit of 2 ppb. Sample weights less that 5 grams not analyzed.
