The regional lake survey for northern Labrador (NTS 14D and parts of 14C and 24A) was conducted during the summers of 1978 and 1985.

The data for NTS 14D, with the exception of mercury, was originally released as Open File 559 (published 1979). This report presents analytical and statistical data for 17 elements in lake sediments from X sample sites, collected at an average density of one sample per 13 km². Loss-on-ignition in sediments, and uranium, fluoride, and pH values in waters from these sites are included in this report.

The reconnaissance surveys were undertaken by the Geological Survey of Canada in conjunction with the Newfoundland Department of Mines and Energy under the Canada - Newfoundland Development Subsidiary Agreement (1976 - 1982) for the initial survey and under the Canada - Newfoundland Mineral Development Agreement (1984 - 1989) for the 1985 survey.

E.H.W. Hornbrook directed the survey program (1978, 1985).

P.W.B. Friske coordinated the operational activities of contract and Geological Survey of Canada staff throughout the survey (1985).

H.R. Schmitt and N.G. Lund coordinated open file production (1985).

N.G. Lund was responsible for management of the 1978 data.

B.E. Elliott was responsible for data management of the 1985 data and for preparation of regional trend marginal maps utilizing a program developed by D.J. Ellwood.

J. Yelle supervised map preparation.
