Laboratory Metadata

Sigéom (Système d'information géominière) is a database of geoscientific information maintained by Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles du Québec.  It includes a large amount of geochemical data compiled in a standard format, which is linked to the physical sample archives.  When samples are re-analysed, re-compiled or re-published, the legacy geochemical data retrieved from Sigéom are also frequently re-published.  Detailed metadata must be obtained from the original published reports.

The SIGÉOM database appears to substitute values of zero for missing data.  Its treatment of analytical values below detection is unknown.
