Survey Description


During the summers of 2009 and 2010, 89 gossanous rock samples were collected from surface exposures at 77 sites on Cumberland Peninsula, eastern Baffin Island, Nunavut.

The lithogeochemical and assay data can be found in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 6916.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 16E, L, M and 26H, I, the eastern Cumberland Peninsula, eastern Baffin Island, Nunavut.

  • Covers a small part of the southwest corner of NTS 16M/5 (Qukiavik Island) on the Cumberland Peninsula, eastern Baffin Island, Nunavut.  It is bordered to the south by North Pangnirtung Fiord and to the north by Maktak Fiord.
