Survey Description

In 1993, 194 samples, mostly till from mudboils, and a small number of fine grained esker sediment samples were collected in the Aylmer Lake area, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.  The data were released in GSC Open File 2867.  A complete report, including gold grain analysis, was published in GSC Open File 3120.  Approximately 50 ten kg till samples were also collected for kimberlite indicator mineral analysis.  The KIM data are published in GSC Open File 3080.

Data Description:

Paper report; data lists on diskette (Excel 3.0).

Quantities Analysed:

<0.002 mm fraction by ICP-AES after aqua regia for 28 elements; <0.063 mm fraction for INAA for 35 elements.

Geochem Maps Available:

Proportional dot maps showing dispersal of elements in the <0.002 mm and <0.063 mm fractions (GSC OF 3120).

Other Analyses:

Heavy mineral concentrate for kimberlite indicator mineral analysis (50 samples; GSC OF 3080).  Heavy mineral concentrate for gold grain counts (GSC OF 3120).
