Description du levé


Entre 1995 et 1998, des échantillons de till ont été recueillis en 336 sites dans la région de Millville, au sud-ouest du Nouveau-Brunswick. Il s’agit de l’échantillonnage initial et de l’échantillonnage de contrôle. L’échantillonnage a été effectué suivant un quadrillage à maille de 2 km. Des échantillons de la moraine de fond ou de la moraine supraglaciaire ont été recueillis aux points du quadrillage ou le plus près possible s’il n’y avait pas de till au point choisi. Des fosses d’échantillonnage ont été creusées à la main jusqu’à au moins 0,1 m dans l’horizon C, lorsque cela était possible. Les fosses d’échantillonnage ont été nettoyées et échantillonnées à la main à l’aide d’un couteau de chasse à lame d’acier inoxydable afin de détacher les matériaux. Environ 5 kg de till ont été recueillis. Des cailloux ont également été recueillis dans l’horizon C. Les données sont publiées dans le rapport public 99-11 du ministère des Ressources Naturelles et de l’Énergie du Nouveau-Brunswick.

Quantités analysées:

Dans la fraction <0,063 mm du till, dosage de 35 éléments par INAA; dosage de 19 éléments par ICP-ES; le S a également été dosé dans les échantillons de suivi; dosage du Sn par fusion-ICP; dosage du Hg par CV-AAS.

L'étendue géographique du levé est définie par les polygones suivants:

  • Couvre 21J/3 (Millville) du SNRC, dans le sud-ouest du Nouveau-Brunswick.  Le village de Millville est situé à environ au centre de la zone d'étude.  L'autoroute 104 s'étend approximativement nord-sud à travers la région.
