Survey Description


A lake sediment sampling survey was conducted by the SDBJ, in the Fire-Mistanao area, Quebec.  The area covers 31790 km 2.  A total of 5940 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 5.3 km 2.

Samples were analyzed for Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, U and Zn.

The data are published in Open File GM 34172, Department of Natural Resources, 1979.  Geochemical maps are published in Open File GM 34173.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers the west half of NTS 33A (Lac Rossignol) and the west half of 33H (Lac Sauvolles).  The Fire-Mistanao area is located in the Nord-du-Québec region.  It is bounded by latitudes 52°05' and 53°35' and longitudes 73° and 74°.
