(requires an Internet connection)
During the summer of 1973, a lake sediment sampling survey was conducted by the Société de Développement de la Baie James, in the James Bay area. The area covers approximately 11200 km2. With helicopter support, a total of 2433 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 4.6 km2.
Samples were analyzed for:
|Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Co, Fe, Mn, Mo||
|atomic absorption (AAS)|
The data are published in Open File GM 34042, Department of Natural Resources, 1978. Raw data are published in Open File GM 34043. Results are also published in Open File GM 34041, Department of Natural Resources, 1978.
A summary report of this survey is published in Open File GM 34085.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:
Covers parts of NTS 33F (Lac Sakami), 33G (Lac de la Fregate), 33I (Lac Mistanukaw) and 33K (Rivière Denys). The Grande Rivière area is located in the Nord-du-Québec region. This area will be flooded by construction of dam sites LG1, LG2, LG3 and LG4. It is bounded by latitudes 53°30' and 54°15' and longitudes 77°37' and 72°45'.
