In the years 2003 and 2004, Ashton Mining (Northwest Terretories) Ltd. collected 473 heavy mineral samples from the Kim, Vic and Eokok Properties in the Kikerk Lake area of western Nunavut Territory. The samples were collected as part of a heavy mineral sampling program for diamond exploration. The properties cover parts of NTS 86P/2-3, 6-7 and are located approximately 100 km southeast from the community of Kugluktuk, NU, south of Coronation Gulf in the Kitikmeot District. The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:
Covers parts of NTS map sheets 86P/2, 3, 6 and 7 south of Coronation Gulf in the Kitikmeot Region of southwestern Nunavut Territory. The area is located approximately 550 km north of Yellowknife and 100 km northwest of the community of Kugluktuk.
