Survey Description

Between 1993 and 1996, Sudbury Contact Mines Ltd. (now Stornoway Diamond Corp.) collected till samples in the vicinity of the Bucke and Gravel kimberlites, Lake Timiskaming area, northeastern Ontario.  The samples were processed at that time for heavy minerals.  In 2003, the GSC selected 24 of the archived concentrates for re-picking of indicator minerals to study sample sites along east-west oriented transects perpendicular to the dispersal fan.

In 2002, kimberlite samples were collected by the GSC from diamond drill core provided by DeBeers Canada Inc. from the Buck and Gravel kimberlites.  The samples were then processed for heavy minerals by the GSC.

The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 5815.
