Survey Description

In 2001 and 2002, shallow trenches were excavated through till into the Seed and Triple B kimberlites, near Lake Timiskaming, northeastern Ontario.  Kimberlite and bulk (10 kg) till samples were collected overlying, up-ice (north) and down-ice (south) of the kimberlites.  At Seed, a total of 26 till samples and one fresh kimberlite sample were collected.  At Triple B, a total of 17 till samples and four kimberlite samples were collected.  The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open Files 4492 and 4822.

Sampling Procedure

Seed – In 2001 trenches were excavated using a tracked excavator.

Triple B – In 2001-2002, trenches were excavated using a wheeled backhoe.
