Approximately 764 till samples were collected on central Baffin Island in 1998, 2001 and 2002. Samples were taken from the walls of pits dug into mudboils and weighed about 2 kg each. Most samples were taken from depths ranging from 20 to 50 cm. Care was taken to avoid obvious oxidation or organic layers. In areas where gossans were mapped, gossanous material was also collected. The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 4543.
<0.002 mm fraction analyzed by ICP-AES after an aqua regia digestion. For 133 selected samples, <0.063 mm fraction analyzed for Au, Pt, Pd by FA-ICP-ES. <0.063 mm fraction analyzed by INAA for a large suite of elements.
Geochem Maps Available:
<2.00 mm fraction for grain size; pebble lithologies.
