Survey Description


Helicopter-supported sampling was carried out in the Rainy Lake-Quetico, Ontario are during the summer of 1979.  Lake sediment and water samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 13 km2.  Sample site and grid cell duplicate samples were routinely collected in each analytical block of twenty samples.  The data were published in GSC Open File 676 in 1980.  The samples were reanalysed by INAA and republished in GSC Open File 2181.

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 52C in Ontario, west of Lake Superior.  It is bounded to the south by the US border.
